MEMBER'S COMMENT
FUTURE
WORK
In future volumes we hope to publish the following:

-
Vol 87 (2025) is a biographical dictionary of painters in Britain from 1500 to circa 1640, by Robert Tittler, Distiguished Professor of History Emeritus at Concordia University in Canada. The dictionary contains over 3000 entries and is the product of Professor Tittler's half century of research into the painting trades of early modern Britain. It is certain to become a standard reference work for art historians of the period.
-
Vol 88 (2026) is a catalogue raisonné of the Anglo-Irish court painter, Charles Jervas (c.1675-1739), that will fill a significant gap in our knowledge of the early 18th century art world. Jervas was the leading portrait painter of Augustan England, bridging the period between Kneller and Hudson, yet he has never been the subject of scholarly scrutiny. Caroline has identified over 500 portraits by Jervas, the great majority of them with illustrations, and the catalogue is accompanied by a biography containing much fresh evidence.
